As type 2 do we have to be more careful of burns?

Burns? As it when you reach into the oven and catch your skin on something stupidly hot?

I would say "yes" if your running let's say normal blood sugars then things should heal relatively quick, but if your not so well controlled then the added sugar in the blood could slow the healing process. Likewise if you have some nerve damage you may not feel the burn, which like many things could also hinder healing.

I was taking test out of oven and dropped it on door, somehow my arm then touched said very hot door.
My last hba1c was 54 so don’t know if that’s controlled or not.

I’ve put it under cold tap. I can feel it although its not super sore.

Just wondering if it requires a dr visit or just keep eye on it

I used to be a burns nurse. We’re your arms numb in any way before the burn?
Did you recoil when you touched the oven? How big is it? What does it look like?

I doubt very much if you need to see a doctor, just treat it like any other minimal wound.

Not that I’m aware of.
I did recoil immediately
It stings but it’s not especially sure and skin isn’t overly hot but does
sting. In fact looking in mirror it seems fairly pathetic lol. It’s only two little red bits

If there no blistering or other worrisome signs then I shouldn’t think a dr is required.

Please don’t put butter on it as I was told to when a child. That’s how to fry your own flesh.

Then it’s obviously fine. It seems you may be over thinking this diabetes complications thing. Would that burn made you see a doc if you didn’t have T2?

It is constant, uncontrolled high blood sugars over a long time that MAY hinder the healing of any wound. Hinder as in slower than normal to heal and more likely to need some form of treatment than those with normal BS.

Just concentrate on not eating carbs, testing your blood sugars regularly and read the info on the forum and the site.

Hi,
If it hurts, you can get a cream from the pharmacy that will help with the pain etc.
Sorry this happened to you.
Take care hun

When I had a molten metal burn on my arm when I worked at the mines, I used fresh aloe vera jelly on it, The burn was about 20 mm in diameter healed up within a couple of weeks and it is hard to see the scar now.

I keep an aloe plant just for this
