Hi all, new to the site and have a problem.
I recently received a OneTouch Verio, which is a great meter and very useful as holds a lot of info, however, my work entails a lot of travelling, and I am now on a six month contract in China, I cannot find anywhere to buy the strips, the lances are easy to get but this new meter does not seem to be available in Asia. Has anyone any experience of the same problem? I have now had to buy a replacement meter, which is so annoying, especially as I have no idea about the accuracy of Chinese meters!

Hi Rizlared,

A very popular meter for many on this forum is the Codefree which is both accurate and reliable , as irony would have it, it's manufactured in South Korea which is right next door to China.

I'm assuming it's available there, logic would dictate. Also worth noting the strips for it are just about the cheapest out there.

I live in Malaysia. Most brands of meters, lancelets and test strips are readily available through pharmacies - not the Medicine Hall (traditional Chinese Medicine places). You just go in and buy them off-the-shelf.
Last time I was in Beijing I noticed a number of "Western Style" pharmacies but language may be a problem.
Good hunting!

Thanks for that, I actually have a codefree, and can get the strips locally, but find the OneTouch just easier as it stores results and displays them better than any other meter I have tried, so guess I will have to wait until I get back to the UK.
Many thanks for the reply.

Language is not a problem, the problem is that OneTouch Verio is not yet available anywhere in China, and as this model has it's own test strips they are also not available. I believe they can now be sourced in Hong Kong, but that is not much nearer than Beijing to me lol.
But thanks for the response
