Hello. I am a pump user and have been started on Bydureon today in the hope that it will help to reduce my insulin intake and to help prevent my glucose production. Are there other pump.users taking bydureon and if so, how are you getting on with it. Many thanks for any response.

I know of someone who tried Byetta (the daily version of bydureon) and found that they had a significantly reduced appetite and felt a little sick. They also had to reduce insulin amounts.

You will have to test more frequently.

Hello Emma according to all the info I can find and there's lots of it, Bydureon should not be used for type1 diabetes. Even the manufactures say this. http://www.drugs.com/bydureon.html

Thanks Tim. I am a frequent tester so I am prepared for that. I expect to be nauseous but am prepared to eat small meals to.combat this. Carbsrok; Bydureon isn't licensed in this country for type 1 but my consultant, an endocrine Professor, has prescribed it for me and he had done a lot of work in USA om this medication for type 1, so I am not worried. Thanks for your concern though ☺

So, tomorrow I will be injecting my third Bydureon dose. I am two weeks into it and approaching the third. So far I have felt nauseous for the night after the dose and for the two days after the dose, unpleasant but tolerable. I am starting notice a difference in my blood sugar readings, some of which are really very surprising for me. I certainly don't have much of an appetite, which accounts for some of the good readings, but I have found that on eating foods that normally would keep my BG's very high, the results are better than usual. I will repost again in a couple of weeks and let you know how I get on.

5th injection onto Bydureon and things are looking up. After my 5th injection I have only had some slight nausea and belching. My blood sugars are looking fantastic and I am glad that I have persevered with the nausea. BG'S are so good that I have even bordered on hypo, so definitely time to start thinking about altering my basal rates. Another plus side is that in the 5 weeks that I have taken it, I have lost 8kg! Blooming fantastic. X
