Byetta Pen Problems

I have been on Byetta 10mg since last summer. However my last pen over Christmas seemed to have a lot of the drug in it when the 30 days was up, this I put down to missing doses over the holiday. I labelled the next pen with the final days date (07/02/2011) so that I could be sure I was back on track. This morning I am left with 2/3 of the drug still in the pen, I know I have missed 2 doses in the last 30 days no more, so although I have been injecting myself I have obviously not been getting the drug and now it has been confirmed that this is the reason my bloods are high. I paid the pharmasist a visit and showed her the pen and how more often than not the dial will not turn but will only pull out so that the 10 is showing, I pushed the pump in and guess what .. nothing comes out. She has kept the pen and is going back to the drug company and she wants me to repeat the excercise, which is all very well but it is my health that is being damaged. I am trying to get a GP appointment now. Has anyone else had this problem?

Insulin pens can be faulty, there was a post here recently about someone having a broken one and one of mine broke recently too (well, I'm not 100% sure it broke, it might have been user error on my part, but I've asked for a replacement just in case), so I imagine Byetta pens are similar so can also break.

Are you using disposable or refillable pens? From your post it looks like disposable ones, did the two faulty ones come from the same batch/box? If so, if I were you, I'd leave the rest of that box and start a new one, just in case. Also, if you don't already, make sure you always have a spare signed prescription from your GP so you can get more pens if anything happens again.
