Re: Anyone use Byetta? Hi I'm new to the forum and wanting to know a little more about Byetta. I haven't yet trawled through the 78 pages of this thread. I was diagnosed as type 2 about 2 years ago. Just after I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem (Hashimoto's thyroiditis) Now taking 125mcgs of thyroxine every day. Been on Metformin (500mg) 3 times daily for 2 years. But seem to be unable to lose weight. Despite my GP saying the weight will fall off when I first started Metformin. My Hb1Ac BG is usually around 7.3. I was supposed to go for a blood test today, but feeling pretty unwell today with IBS. Over the past 18 months my Hb1Ac has gone up from 6.0 to 7.3 despite being on Metformin. I have an appointment next week with the diabetes nurse, so was thinking of asking about Byetta. I have noticed that when I eat too much sugar, my feet get hot and itchy. I also feel pretty tired. Who do they normally prescribe Byetta for? Is it usually people with higher BG levels? My BMI is around 32. How do I find out if my PCT will prescribe it?
