C - Peptide test

My DSN has spoken to the Consultant at the hospital and they’ve agreed to do a C-Peptide blood test, along with other blood tests as the consultant is suspicious that I might have Type 1.5/LADA.
Has anyone had one of these tests recently as I’ve been given an instruction leaflet which mentions my sugars need to be above 8 before having the test 1-2 hours after breakfast but it also mentions that insulin injections won’t interfere with the test.
I’m not sure if I need to take my Bolus the morning I stuff my face for this test as it says you need to eat Carbs or not take my Bolus otherwise won’t my Bolus reduce any sugar spike? Just wondered people’s views before I call my DSN on Mon to confirm what I need to do.
Thanks

The reason they want you to be above 8 is that this is a level where your pancreas should be producing a significant amount of insulin to try and get the number down.

So how you reach that number doesn't matter too much.
Are you usually below 8 at the time of the test?
Both eating more carbs or taking less mealtime insulin for your breakfast will increase your numbers. Remember, you're not aiming to go ridiculously high, only above 8.

I’m usually above 8 first thing in the morning thanks to the Dawn Phenomenon.
I don’t usually eat many carbs for breakfast, it’s either nothing as not hungry, a boiled egg or maybe Greek yogurt.
As they’ve specifically mentioned carbs are to be consumed I’m taking that to mean a piece of toast or some cereal for breakfast.
Thank you for coming back to advise that I’m not aiming to go really high.

Sorry to ask another daft question but this morning my levels were 10.4 on waking.
If they are over the 8 on the day of the test without haven eaten anything can I just not bother with eating breakfast that morning or do I still need to eat the carbs for the test to be accurate?
Sorry I don’t really know the mechanics behind this test.
Thanks

Hi, the point of the c-pep is to discovery how much insulin you produce naturally, if your sugars are reasonably high after food, you should be showing some if you make some.

I purposely didn’t take my insulin, I also took the test as an ideal excuse to eat a McDonald’s breakfast lol, I figured without injected insulin, my body should make more, but that was just my theory. Probly should just follow the rules, have something nice that you miss.

good luck, I hope you get the result you are hoping for.
