Hi all,
I'm off camping this weekend - proper wild camping in the woods with an open fire and very basic cooking kit. The food I'm taking (steak, bacon, sausages) is a bit heavy on the old protein. I've got avocados and some babybel cheeses which will help but I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for high fat campfire recipes.

Busy thread, this!

A couple of things I learned ...

It's possible to make some nice smoked beef jerky over a campfire. Just get some thin pieces of beef and place them on a rack quite a way above the flames so they dry out rather than cook. (Somebody had made a smoking rack out of branches and leaves, but when I tried to use it I burnt it down )

Small hard cheeses like babybel are definitely your friend on a camping trip. Light & fatty.

Olive oil spray is great to have in your kit. I didn't think of it this time, but next time I'll use it to fry some halloumi.

Also, next time I'll take a little pot of butter & coconut oil for some bulletproof coffee!
