Hello there Starstruck. Sounds like your medics want to confirm what type of diabetes you have. The presence of antibodies would indicate T1, but the absence of antibodies doesn't discount it. Not all T1s show up as having antibodies. Do you know how long it will be until your antibody results come back? In the meantime, if you are avoiding carbs, and don't want to lose more weight, then you need to replace those calories somehow. In your shoes, I'd try eating a bit more protein, and more fat. By eating more fat, I'm not suggesting glugging down olive oil or such like, but maybe having fattier meats, like belly pork, or lamb, or cheeses or even cream, and see how you go. If your blood glucose numbers are very high, you may struggle to stop the weight loss until they are somewhat under control. How long have you been taking the Gliclazide, and when do you next see, or speak with your medics?
