Hi, me again. I am reading the posts that you have been kind enough to send but for some reason I can’t reply? It just says it might be spam or the content might be innopropriate but it still says that even if I just put thank you! Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

I don't know but I've alerted our moderator team to the problem, hopefully one of my more tech-savvy colleagues can help you out.
You did manage to reply on your own thread some 5 hours ago (https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/tentative-question-hba1c-81.171604/#post-2206902), is that the same thread where you tried to reply again but it didn't work?
Could you try replying on this thread to see if that works?

Not entirely certain but I seem to recall new members requiring to post a minimum amount of posts before they can reply.
5 posts springs to mind.

hi and welcome @Missmollymidi

The forum has a block on new members posting links until they have reached a certain post count. Not sure of the actual number of posts needed.

So if you are hitting the ‘Reply’ button, and the post you are quoting contains links (as mine does in my signature, or tags, for example), then the system will not allow that post to publish.

if you wish to reply to someone without quoting them, you can try tagging them instead.
Just type @ immediately before their name, like this @Antje77 or @DCUKMod and their name will publish as a live link.
They will then get an ‘alert’ and they will know you are talking to them.

hope that helps.
If my answer hasn’t answered your question, just tag me, and give a few more details of what the problem is. :)

edited to add: hmmm. I am now second guessing my suggestion! It may be that the @taglink will prevent the post from publishing, until you get the number of posts up... unfortunately, I have no way of testing this...

please let us know what happens?

Hi all, sorry but I still can’t reply to anyone. As soon as I hit reply I get a load of quotes from everyone come up and I then can’t reply to anyone. Frustrating and I really don’t know what to do - any help please - bearing in mind I won’t be able to reply to you!

Edited by Mod. Threads have been merged to focus replies and assistance to tone thread, and avoid confusion.

I see you’ve only posted 4 times so far.
Try posting some more. I recall 5 posts before you get to reply to posts.
Good luck.

Can you try the following: Don't hit reply but scroll down until you find the empty box that says 'Write your reply' and write something in it.
I'm thinking that will work. If you try that and a bunch of quotes turns up, use backspace until the box is empty before typing.
If that works, at least you'll be able to communicate when we try to figure out what the problem is. I will get an alert if you answer on this thread even when you don't use the reply button.

If it hasn't been solved by tomorrow (pretty much bedtime for many of us) I'll send you a pm and see if we can work it out from there.

Hi Molly - I've had a look ATM your account, and all s well that end of things.

As others have suggested, our system auto-rejects links from new members until a very modest post count has been achieved. This is part of our site security and anti-spamming process.

If you re receiving email alerts to posts or threads you are watching on participating on, you need to respond to the thread from the forum, not from the email. Responding via the email doesn't work.

If that isn't the case, I'm posting a link to some brief videos on forum functionality. I wonder if something on there might help. The longest video is just over two minutes, but there might just be something helpful there.

If none of that works, please feel free to email [email protected] and someone will help.
