I woke this morning and my BG was 6.6mmol/L. I had a low carb breakfast consisting of 2 eggs scrambled on one slice of German dense ryebread - total carbs 16g. I use a ratio of 1 unit Novorapid to 10g carb, which equates to a dose of 2 units of Novorapid.

However, I thought I would add a couple of units (because I thought I would be less active because I have a cough virus at the moment) making 4 units of Novorapid, which I duly injected.
As it happened I did quite a bit of housework at my wife's request as she had a friend coming round.

I didn't test after 2 hours but my pre-meal BG over 4 hours later was 10.3mmol/L.
This surprised me or rather made me scream and curse with frustration.

Can anybody please explain why this might have happened.
I have one or two possible answers but yours would be helpful.
Thanks.

Could be
- the viral infection
- you may be more insulin resistant in the morning, which is what happens to me, in that my glucose levels creep up b/w breakfast and lunch, and can often be as high as 12 at lunch even if all I've eaten for breakfast is an omelette
It might be worth observing the patterns over a few days and if this is the case you could speak to your dsn about potentially adjusting your morning ratios for this
