Hi there,
I am new to the forum and I was just wondering. When I had my two kids they were both very heavy at birth (my daughter weighed 9pounds 15 ounces and my son was 10 pounds fifteen ounces. I remember my doctor telling me that I was susceptible to developing diabetes mellitus in the future. Well now I am 53 years old and I am 9 kilos overweight, I was actually 17 kilos overweight but managed to come down 8 kilos, Now I am doing the Banting diet with the hope of losing this excess weight. I have always felt that eventhough I didnt eat much I seemed to put on weight. Could you please give me advice on what tests I should have to exclude diabetes?. I must mention that I am a Thalassemia Minor. I must say I am a bit worried because I feel that my body is battling with inflammation. I would really appreciate advice on how to go about being tested. Thanking you.
