can anyone advise

Hi not sure if im on the right post but my friends husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few months ago and was put on metiforum tablets but since taking them he has gained about 2st in weight, he can hardly eat anything apart from yougots, if a meal is put in front of him he just picks at it and his mouth is always dry and a horrid taste. His sugar levels rarely go below 9 but they can go right upto 18.

He visited his G.P last week and he did'nt seem to be at all concerned, he has tried to get in contact with a diabetes nurse which his G.P was supposed to refer him to but forgot, but when he call them they never call back

I am a type 1 diabetic so i have given as much advise as i know but im not to sure about type 2 diabetes and how the tablets work, the reason i am asking for anyones advise is because my friend is getting abit concerned about it all now even more so than her husband, so i just thought i'd see if theres anyone who has had side effects like this on these tablets.

Hi,
I would seriously be asking if the Doctor gives a fig really! if I went to my GP with my diabetes out of control he's send me toot suite to get bloods done. Control is everything to a type 2, either by diet or tablets. My Husband maintains his diabetes well on 4 metformins a day along with diet, unfortunately my diabetes is not controlled by tablets alone, but I maintain great readings on using common sense and regular testing. I would advise he goes back to the Doctor or to see the DN. Good luck!

It is very poor but often you do not get help until things go critical unless you shout. :roll:

If the doctor is not interested then your friend needs to find a doctor who is interested.

If they have access to the internet the very best thing you could do for him is to give them the link to this forum where he will find the help he needs.
