8 months ago I was diagnosed with T2, when I was confirmed my diabetic nurse was so lovely and understood how distressed I was, she answered all my questions and was placed onto Metformin, unfortunately It didn't agree with me and was taken off it immediately and was put on a once a day injection of Victoza. I totally changed everything about my life, the way I eat, what I drink, absolutely everything, I asked at the time if I could stick to a very healthy and low carb diet could I eradicate my diabetes and I was told no, once you are diabetic you are always diabetic. I came to terms with that and pursued a healthy diet, lost nearly 4 stone in weight, and so all looking good.

Following a routine clinic visit, I was told to stop my victoza injection and that I am no longer diabetic! Great news you would think but I am so confused!

So now I take no diabetic medication and 2 weeks later I am so thirsty again but my blood glucose levels are 5.3 on fasting and 7.8ish two hours after my evening meal (healthy and low carb).

My question is can you go from being diabetic to be cured?

The answer to that is usually no, however you seem to have it under control. There is a term 'pre-diabetes'. Hopefully you were.
I'm sure they will keep an eye on you, but keep up the low carbing and exercise its obviously working for you.

To be honest I'm so scared of going backward back to where I was and feeling so rubbish that even though its hard not to fall off the wagon into the chocolate factory, I never want to feel that I'll again so thank your for your positive encouragement

Hi, I'm a newb so know little about nothing, but it strikes me that as long as you test your bg regularly and it's within the recommended levels then be happy :) you may as well continue with your new lifestyle as its healthier diabetes or not. Good luck!
