Dear friends,

For both of my pregnancies I was having gestational diabetes, which put me in risk of Type 2. I made some tests last year, and all came out ok. Then, I made many lifestyle changes, went to dietitian and lost 20 kg. I was expecting test results to be even better, but after all this effort it has got so worse.
My A1C before diet and weight loss was 5.2 and it is 5.7 now.
Trigliserid- was 43, is 157 now.
Based on these results, my endocrinologist send me for resistance test.
The test results came out, and I have app with doc in 2 weeks, so I ask you help to interpret the results:
Glucose fasting: 5.7
Glucose 60 min after 75 gr of sugar drink: 8.0
Glucose 120 min: 10.8
Glucose 180 min: 10.1
Insulin 0 min: 7.6
Insulin 60 min: 18
Insulin 120 min: 123.5
Insulin 180 min: 56.4
Anti TPO 0.40
HOMA IR: 2.0
Thank you for all your help. I am so worried right now :(

Hi @ZaneteGaranti, Whilst I would like to be able to help you I am not qualified to do so.
However if you look at the Home page of this site and click on Living with Diabetes, and under Blood sugar range you can see the various recommended limits for Blood sugars.
This is just a guideline but your doctor will be best able to provide the interpretation of all your test results and what may or may not need to be done.
Best Wishes.

Hi wow thats a great test to have had.. I'm guessing you don't live in the UK?

Turning to the results.. your Insulin Resistance HOMA IR is indicating early signs of insulin resistance

https://www.thebloodcode.com/calculators/

Your OGTT results are also showing high blood sugar after 2 hours which also backs up the insulin resistance test. But your HbA1c result of 5.7 is below the pre diabetes cut off in the UK which is 6%.

So you are showing signs of insulin resistance but aren't yet pre-diabetic.
Does that help a bit? It shows that you can probably help yourself a lot by reducing the carbohydrate content in your diet and try to reverse the Insulin Resistance. If you can achieve that then you could probably avoid a worsening situation and an eventual diagnosis of Pre-diabetes or Type 2.

Goodmorning. Yes, you are right, I live in Cyprus. I would like to thank you so much. You really helped me. The doctors here are crazy for medicine, and they already proposed me diabetes medication. I have made some significant changes already to my diet, cut almost all carbs from diet, and added daily 30 mins exercise. I hope it helps. Gonna repeat tests in 3 months time and see what happens.

I'd be very surprised if those dietary changes do not significantly change your test results. Wishing you all the best and please come back and let us know how its going.
