Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please?

What I wrote was "One or two puritan members - not you" and my earlier post alluded to my esteem for your knowledge. I give up,

One thing on the bread comment. I was a fervent Burgen soya and linseed man. I now prefer the hovis lower carb seeded, not the wholemeal version. And although the carbs look roughly the same per 100g, the hovis is marginally less per slice, as slices are less weight wise, so on the basis we eat in slices, you get slightly less carbs. Much the same though, and my meter tells me same results.

Since you’re newly diagnosed, remember this is the time to see what’s what. Some have no spikes eating cooked carrots; some have to stay away altogether. The thing you’re doing right is to notice which foods spike you sugars and which don’t, then eliminate the spikers.
One other thing: Take it from someone with brittle T1 for 50 years, sometimes you’ll do everything “right” and still have problems. That’s diabetes. Do what you can when you can and stay on track, but if you go off sometimes (it happens), forgive yourself and get back on track. You’re human. The disease can be volatile. That’s the way it is. (And I don’t mean give up! Do your best to do what’s best for you. It only affects you!)
