As per the question can changing insulin type and regimes effect you mentally, psychologically and effect your personality. We all know having highs and lows can have an effect on how we feel for example a few days of frustrating highs does make me easily irritable but nothing major.

Just found this: http://www.tudiabetes.org/forum/t/insulins-affect-on-emotions-and-mood/372

Interesting points here.

I personally think that besides the obvious physical side-effects of being too high or too low due to improper/miscalculated use of insulin, the mood and personality effects are more psychological surrounding the whole process of insulin dependent diabetes management.

For women with uteri, I firmly believe insulin can affect the monthly cycle especially when on birth control (I experience this first hand), but that has more to do with the fact the cycle is disturbed or the insulin reacts with the birth control hormones.

Insulin on its own shouldn't have any effect. It makes no sense biologically.
