There are numerous know complications of diabetes . Wondering whether any of the complications can appear all on a sudden without giving any alert or warning time. Say, for example, whether a Diabetic will know that his/her Kidney is gradually being damaged so that he/she could take medical treatment to prevent that ,or how the damage to feet occur ,gradually or all on a sudden in fine morning I will notice that my feet do not work or no feeling/nerve damage caused. Can you please share your thoughts on this issue?

yes... most just suddenly appear. This is why we have to keep working at it, eat right and keep our levels as close to normal as possible.

I was having no problems with my vision when the letter came through the door to day I had proliferative retinopathy and had to have several laser sessions to save my eyesight. When I seen the specialist for my first appointment he said that if I didn't get the laser surgery I'd certainly be blind within a year.
So yes, complications do sneak up on you and take hold quickly. There often aren't any warning signs, once the damage is done, it's done.

My partner is having probs with finger tips ie doing up shirt buttons. This began after putting up blinds. Is this part and parcel of diabetes. He smokes and won't give it up and has two or three glasses of wine a night.
