Hi, I've started a new thread but it's connected to my previous one about bizarre readings - because to my mind they are still bizarre and I admit I am ignorant about this. (I've been in the "good control" zone without medication since the year 2000 so this sudden unexpected rise in my levels is both worrying and curious. I'm trying to avoid going on the tablets...)

The past couple of days I've felt ill (probably a sinus infection) so lay on the bed most of the day, and drank a couple of LemSips despite them being high in sugar, ate two over-large meals also, provided by hubby who doesn't understand "portion control" LOL.

Well, to get to the point, this morning I didn't eat breakfast, only had a couple of coffees with cream (full cream, not milk) and a small portion of cheese. At noon I used my prick-test meter and it was 13.1 - the highest it's ever been, despite my not eating a thing.

Is this a result of yesterday's bad management, or because I ate nothing this morning? This whole thing doesn't make any sense.

Well, you'll have been told that BG up = carbs eaten, which unfortunately is a lie-to-children. Illness tends to raise BG levels, and you're capable of making more than enough glucose to result in this reading

[T2 patients tend to produce 2-3x the amount the amount of a healthy person; Metformin goes some way to fix that]
