Is it worth asking for a c peptide test when I see the nurse next week. I reduced my hba1c from 119 to 54 when I found out I had diabetes. I did six weeks on vlcd then ate what I had eaten before minus cakes, puddings, biscuits and fruit juice. I also ate smaller portions (no second helpings).
I would like to find out if I have problems producing insulin or if I am producing insulin but my cells are resistant.
I had pancreatitis in the 1970s when I was ten years old, I had an operation which my mum said was to remove a cyst. I was in hospital for five weeks. I have had no further problems since.
I put my diabetes down to eating too much of the wrong things and using the car too much. I got massive improvement when I started eating less and walking more. It doesn't really make a difference, I tried lchf in January and I am happy with the food I am now eating. I am just interested.
