I am 31 and have had type 1 diabetes for 22 years now. A year ago I was diagnosed with pre- non proliferative retinopathy which required immediate laser treatment to my left eye. I had about 3 sessions of laser and have since tightened my control. When I returned for another check up, they discovered it had actually worsened and I am now halfway through a course of 6 Lucentis injections and more laser treatment.
I am absolutely terrified about what the outcome will be for me, and the doctors don't give you much to go on!
I am now looking after my blood glucose levels, my cholesterol and blood pressure are good, and I exercise daily.
Just wondering if anyone else has been through similar and is it possible for me to turn this situation around for the better?
