Can I still drive?

As CarbsRok says you need to notify the DVLA, I had this operation in one eye a long time ago and a field vision test is often required before they issue you with a new licence, but you shouldn't drive until your vision has returned to normal and your consultant has given you the OK (as well as the DVLA).

I had vitrectomies in both eyes and had to try and pass a visual fields test before the DVLA would consider re issuing my licence. I was told by my consultant not to drive after the second vitrectomy due to having a gas bubble in my eye and then wait for a further few months before attempting the fields test.

Did your Consultant give you any advice about driving after the operation? I was given 2 attempts to pass the fields test but don't know if this is still the case as it was 20+ years ago.
