So, last night I couldn't sleep. At 3 am I decided I wasn't going to sleep so I got up and decided to have some chicken soup. I do get sleepless nights from time to time and that's my go to.
I tested before the soup, 7.8, and decide to test every hour just to see how my BS comes down after eating. So...
3 am 7.8 - ok for me.
4 am 10.5
5 am 9.4
6 am 9.1. At this point I decided to have a cup of coffee and take my morning tablets, including my linagliptin.
7 am 3.2 - exceptionally low for me, so I had two crumpets and jam.
8 am 4.7 - still a bit low.
9 am - missed.
9.24 am 'Lo' reading.
9.25 am, tested again, 1.3!!! No hypo symptoms.. hmm...
Panic set in a bit so I had 4 dextrose tablets and two slices of toast and marmalade
9.41 am 14.6 - huh?
I'm not sure what's going on here. I've never had reading that low before and find it hard to believe a swing from 1.3 to 14.6 in just 16 minutes. I didn't take any gliclazide - last dose was evening meal.
I'm seeing the diabetic nurse tomorrow so I'll get her thoughts on it. A bit worrying though. If I hadn't been doing this test I wouldn't have seen these readings, plus I had no hypo symptoms. I usually get those below 5.
