First of all sorry for bombarding you all with questions but I'm feeling abit thrown in the deep end...

I have a vial with about 100-150 units left in it. Do I just dispose if this or would you fill a new cartridge with part of the old vial and part from a new vial?
Also just out of curiosity how low do you usually let your cartridges get before you fill a new one? I hate wasting anything so trying to get a feel for what others do..

Thank you so much to anyone that can help!!

Hi..I would use the remaining insulin and then fill the rest of the cartridge with a new vial. There is no prob mixing the two as far as I know.
I usually get down to about five units before I change, but have been known to get down to 1 or 2 units left! It depends when it's convenient really.
I love to take the whole lot off and have a bath before putting a new set and cartridge in. Its nice to be disconnected for a while!

Hi, I've let mine get down to 1 or 2 units, does your pump alarm, when a set number of units is reached? Mines set to alarm at 20 units. And yes I have mixed insulins from one cartridge into another esp when I've had a problem with the set. And I'm like Cally, I like to be disconnected, but I've never been of for an hour as I find my blood sugar starts to raise.

Hello k8tie

On the Combo pump, its easy to see how much insulin is left in the cartridge. What u can do is put pump into Stop mode and then unscrew the black cartridge adaptor and take the cartridge out leaving the piston in the pump where it is. Looking at the cartridge, when the top of the internal plunger gets level with the last black marking on the cartridge, that's when there's no more insulin left and you need to fill up another cartridge again. If you still have insulin in the cartridge all you need to do is screw the cartridge back in the pump and then press Start again and that's it

Also, its possible to withdraw the last dregs from the vial simply by lifting the vial up a tiny bit off the blue vial adaptor so that the needle is below the surface of the insulin in the vial
