I know stress can cause high blood sugars but can they also cause low blood sugars?

I had a bit of a family crisis last night and had a hypo. Assumed that I had incorrectly counted my evening meal carbs (still very possible). I've just had another hypo now, about 3 hours after breakfast and I haven't done anything except sit on the sofa and load the dishwasher. Just wondering if it could be the stress/anxiety because I don't think my ratio is wrong and I have the same breakfast almost every day.

I know I'm very stressed at the moment and my bloods are high at the moment however in theory I can't see no reason why they wouldn't cause a hypo I think it depends on the person

I think they do, Stress gives you a "flight or fight" type of response and when your body is "revv'ed up then this would deplete your glucose stores.

Yes definately,
ive found if im stressed ..eg..kids are doing my head in lol then my bloods go high, but ive found in times of stress ,eg my son had an accident/daughter rushed in hospital that ive hypoed quite badly, so the answer is definately yes:)

I've also seen variable results when stressed.
More often than not sends me high but also seen times when I've gone hypo in times of stress.

Tension about lively stuff gets you hypers.. Other forms of stress like the ones contributing to an adrenaline rush into your system give you hypos... Speaking from personal experience so could be relative...

Thanks all. Going through some family stuff the past 2 days and can't seem to win. Went down to 3.8 after breakfast this morning, went out for food and had pudding and an hour later was 4.1 and now just an hour after food I'm on 4.8, which I know is a good number bug I was 8.4 before and it wasn't that long ago. My figures in between are either a little high or on target

Stress has the opposite effect and can send my bg sky high in certain circumstances. I think your overestimating your food Rosie and giving yourself too much insulin, do you weight your food out and check the carbs using a book or App?
?

I weigh everything and use the carbs and cals app and book. I did go out for food today so didn't weight it but I went for an easy option of mash, chicken and gravy and cheesecake and used the carbs and cals app. The rest of my meals I weighed and injected accordingly (or so I thought). I just don't know what to do. Hopefully tomorrow will be better

If your basal insulin is set too high this can cause hypo's between meals, try doing some basal tests and see if your bg still continues to drop.
