if proliferative diabetic retinopathy is stable can you do weightlifting? I don’t mean like body builder type and doing heavy deadlifts lifts.
Just generic weight lifting /machines to build and maintain muscle.

I try looking online and some sites say no not at all.
My doctor hasn’t said o have to avoid any type of exercises just that I need to have a week of rest when laser or injections are done

I’ve got PDR too and my doc gave me the green light for moderate weights as long as I avoid straining or holding my breath (like with really heavy lifts). I stick to machines and lighter free weights, more reps instead of maxing out. Biggest thing is keeping blood pressure from spiking. If your doctor didn’t say to avoid it, you’re probably fine with a sensible routine, just listen to your eyes and body.
