Type of diabetes
Type 2
Hi all I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 2 years ago I only found out that I was diabetic due to blood clots in my leg as my glucose level was hitting 24.5. I was put on metformin but had to come off the tablets due to bowel problems so now I am on a injection called liraglutide which helps me a lot. 4 week's ago I was diagnosed with cancer and I am slowly being castrated by injection this is to get my psa level down ready for radiotherapy. This is a very worrying time for me as my sugar level as gone up to around 17.00 but it's up and down all the time. Will the radiotherapy effect my diabetes and if so what could I expect to receive I know that I am to get some bad side effects from my treatment but will my diabetes suffer with it.

Hi Kevin, it's nice to meet you, I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis of cancer. That, in it's self must be very worrying, so Illness, stress, anxiousness and operations can elevate the sugar levels up quiet a bit.
I know a member who is going through cancer, so hoping they will see your post and may be able to offer some help and support.
