Hello all .
My 6 year old so has been on the pump now for 3 weeks . We keep having problems with the cannulas at night where they keep coming out .
We are on Medtronic 640g pump .
Anyone have any tips on how to keep cannulas in . It doesn't happen at all during play , sports and PE .

Could it be possible that she's pulling them off in her sleep?

Sounds as if either your youngsters is pulling out the cannula herself or is perhaps rolling on the pump or tubing thus pulling it out. Perhaps put some sticky tape over it and see what happens.

Think about what she's wearing in bed too. I find some nightwear is kinder to cannulas than others. If you can choose something that doesn't have a waistband that pulls or rubs, and that allows the pump tubing to be tucked away, then hopefully that'll reduce the site pulling.

My only other thought is could she be pulling at the cannula in her sleep? I find sometimes the adhesive feels itchy at night and can be more noticeable than during the day - heat of the bed probably.

That's really frustrating - all I can suggest is taping down the tubing right next to the cannula, and again about an inch further up the tubing away from the cannula - with luck if it gets pulled, only the first piece of tape (ordinary Micropore should do it) will be compromised, leaving the cannula secure.

Micropore, in my experience, is way stickier than it needs to be, so might just do the job.
