Hi, I've been a diabetic for 9 years and am 17. for on and off now I try but my norm is poor control and my average HBa1C (sp?) is about 8.0-10.0. I don't know why I don't engage with it but when i make an effort it seems to be fine eventually I just slip again and generally upset people. In the past i did about 2 BM's a day. Does anyine have any ideas on how to help or been through the same thing?

Hi Donuter ,and welcome to the forum. You are the only one who can decide where you want to go in life. You are the only one who can decide how much of a life you really want. You are 17 now, with a Hba1c of 8 to 10 complications will set in probably in your 20's.Failing eyesight, bad circulation etc.Do you want to get married, have children?
The future is yours ,but only if you start taking your diabetes seriously and get those blood sugar levels down below 7 to slow down any complications.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but you are the only one who can do this, not other people, you.Finding this forum is possibly the best thing you could have done. Please read the stories on here and see if that motivates you to take control of your diabetes.
