I recall reading a thread a few months back where there was discussion about type 2 having auto immune markers (not the same as type 1 does). I can't remember the name of the thread and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm trying hard to remember because today I got told by one of my specialists that if I was diagnosed young with type 2 (which I was) that the likelihood is that I have auto immune problems. There is of course the possibility a couple of my other conditions are auto immune but they require different immune panels apparently to check. The train of thought is mainly from US though and my specialist is telling me that he thinks that I likely have immune problems, but the treatment of immune suppressants is not usually a positive one due to bad side effects. Also the study I showed to him said that they mostly didn't respond to immune suppressants even though they had auto immune markers (again it was from someone on this forum who let me know about auto immune GI dysmotility and I can't remember where it was posted as a reply to me)... but anyways I just thought it was interesting that he said that to me today. I guess if I have auto immune problems in other areas it probably has impacted on my diabetes as well considering I now need to be on insulin for life. Sorry if I'm rambling... mind is racing. lol. I hope I make sense. Let me know if above is completely confusing.
