What's GAD?I don’t have depression I have GAD. And what distracts me from that is food
I’ll check it out
That’s literally one of my worst fears. Maybe this could be it.That's what I remember of our family medical history, it was pretty much overnight for my grandma - so maybe use this to redirect your eating habits? But the damage can also be cumulative and gradual as well.
Generalised anxiety disorder, it’s pretty severeWhat's GAD?
I think my life would be over if I was blind. I just bought m&ms today, the big version, shall I throw it out. That's what I remember of our family medical history, it was pretty much overnight for my grandma - so maybe use this to redirect your eating habits? Maybe donate to local homeless - lots of PTSD sufferers who can still tolerate carbs...I think my life would be over if I was blind. I just bought m&ms today, the big version, shall I throw it out.
So sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. But if this helps you to re evaluate your options going forward, I hope that I have helped. Try to gradually up your carb free (= fast food free days - there are really no non-toxic carb/poor fat options), maybe every other day to start?I think my life would be over if I was blind. No, I needed a scare because losing my limbs and death clearly werent enough to get my life straight. So sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Wow when you said “hypo when you were young” I get hypos every week, people can go years without one???
I hate the feeling of hypo. Maybe my high blood sugars are causing me to do these bad habits but high blood sugars are in my life now and they’re not ready to go.
To be honest, it is impossible to give you a perfect recipe for life going forward - you need to discover what works long term for you by yourself. So, have I shocked you enough to stop sweet stuff, cereal, crisps, etc? What are you able to use to satisfy your appetite with as alternatives - this is so super important? I start each day with loads of black coffee and also adjustments (around 5 am) for dawn phenomenon. For me, then lots of smoked streaky bacon and 2-3 fried eggs are amazing - can be all I need all day. But still really impacts my BGs, so plenty of insulin even for protein. It's a daily experiment. No, I needed a scare because losing my limbs and death clearly werent enough to get my life straight.
Sorry what does that mean? I didn’t understand from the “try to” part
I can eat red grapes because they’re really sweet but apparently eating lots of it is not good??To be honest, it is impossible to give you a perfect recipe for life going forward - you need to discover what works long term for you by yourself. Is it normal that my blood sugar has been under 3 mmol for 2 hours now. I ate m&ms and it didn’t go up so I had jelly beans. Has my body just broken down. Instead of going up it’s going down. Surely 15 m&ms and 10 jelly babies would make it go upI think many T1's here would disagree with your nurse that your diet is the "root cause of T1 diabetes"
Your diet may not be helping your blood glucose control that is true but root cause... no.
If you really want to overcome your addiction then I'm afraid it's going to take a lot of effort.
Are there any zero carb foods that you like that you could focus on for a month. Bacon and eggs say or juicy steaks?
Eat zero carb food you love for a week then extend it to 2 and then 3 and 4 and see if that helps.
Don't have any of the rubbish you are addicted to in the house.
You should see improved blood sugar control too which will help the process and your insulin requirements could also drop.
High BGs can be a catalyst negative feelings, which in turn can trigger doing stuff you may later regret?
..
That is so true. Before my diagnosis I always felt negative and bad tempered. When I got my BG down I’m a much nicer version of myself and much more positive and determined!
