Carb counting//getting back into good habits?!

Hello everyone
I'm quite embarassed to post this and would really appreciate no tellings off (please)
For a while I was struggling with depression and burn out, I've been diabetic 13 years, diagnosed at 10 years! With this I completely gave up, stopped testing, barely injecting, just doing enough insulin to get bye.. I'd inject if I felt a bit high, just guessing how much I'd need.
Well, it's time to buck my ideas up! Working for the NHS I spend most my time caring for others and taking their health seriously, it's time to take care of myself before it's too late!!

I've slowly introduced myself back to the diabetes world. First of all, I've been testing my blood glucose! How can I get back into any habit with carb counting? It's driving me insane now I'm testing again my sugar's are bouncing around all over the place.
Any tips, tricks or advice would be super super appreciated.

Hi there! Sounds like you’re making a brilliant decision to prioritise your health. This forum is awesome for asking questions and getting support. Knowing you’re not the only one is so helpful, I find. Well done to you, as I know it’s far from easy sometimes. I often have moments when I just don’t want to play the diabetic game anymore, it’s understandable because it’s flippin tough! I’m T2, so try to stick to LCHF as much as possible and use Diet Doctor for inspiration and information about carbs in foods. I try to stay below 20g of carbs per day, consciously increase my water intake, get some exercise and have found microwave mug cakes (using almond flour) have saved my sanity! You’re doing the right thing, so keep going and keep posting on here with your progress and successes - especially the little ones.
 
I'm a type 2 so probably not the best for advice- however, no need to be embarrassed - you were really young when diagnosed and teenage years are tough at the best of times.

Welcome to the forum. There will be people on soon who can give you great advice and sympathise with the burnout- taking care of yourself is always important- even more when you spend your time taking care of others.
