Can the principles of a carb counting program such as DAFNE be used in Type 2 diabetes ?
What additional factors, over Type 1 diabetes, would need to be taken into account apart from insulin resistance and correspondingly higher insulin doses?

Yes and no Ian. DAFNE is for type 1's and possibly type 2's on insulin, where it focuses on developing the skills necessary to match your insulin dose to the carbs you eat (insulin/carb ratio), so therefore it is only relevant to insulin users. The principle of carb counting, i.e weighing food, calculating carb content and recording results can be used by anyone who has diabetes and by using this method is a sure fire way of gaining good blood glucose control, perhaps other type 2's may put you in the right direction here as I am not a type 2.
