Carb hangover

just looked at my pen and saw that I have two injections around 7am today - as I worked late last night and have little recollection of this or checking my bg I must have woken up to the high bg! Always hate the dredges of a carb hangover when bg has been increasing steadily over night. Never a great start on a Monday!

Is that alcohol consumption alongside a higher intake of carbs?

If so, it's very dangerous bolusing for excess carbs if you've been drinking. If you can't remember bolusing for a high BG because you were impaired by alcohol - I'd strongly recommend that you don't inject insulin at any point when drinking, as you can end up in a lot of trouble...

If it's purely because you were tired, then the same logic applies (albeit not to the same degree) because it's very easy to bolus 20u when you're meant to dial in 2u when you're a bit fatigued...

Thankfully only just being tired, although tbf there are occasions when I inject and it's done so automatically that I don't pay attention to whether I've done it or not!

That's okay then:)

We all do it at times, it's just so second nature. At least you have an Echo pen (or something equivalent) to remind you. There's nothing worse than staring blankly at your Novopen 4 asking it aloud if you've already bolused or not...

That's a valid paling about not injecting whilst drinking, I have always injected and thankfully nothing has gone amiss so far. Never really thought about injecting the wrong amounts! Although rarely so I have more than 2 drinks but Christmas party season is upon us!
