I just saw this post by the anticarb and it has got me thinking, would this information apply to t2's as well?

When my daugher was diagnosed at 18 years old she was initially put on Meformin but after an admission to hospital where they discovered her bg's were very high, she was started on insulin. She has learning disabilities so I had to deal with that side of things and looking back, I'm fairly sure that we were just told to give her "X" amount at breakfast and dinner regadless of what she was eating. She has another condition which made it very difficult for us to control her diet but at one point she was on Novorapid 28u three times daily and Lantus 40u at night. We had also gone through Novomix and Levemir as well as the 2g of Metformin she was on. Not forgetting the Victoza we tried..and the Januvia..sorry I digress.

Is it normal practice to put people on these regimes without matching the dose of insulin to what is eaten? Given the circumstances I can understand why the hospital did it but to not even discuss it..well, I am just wondering.

So Type 2's on insulin..your experiences?
