I don't know if there is an answer to my question but I need to write it down anyway...

I have been low carbing since November 2013, not very low carb. My Hb1ac went from 46 to 40 and I will have it retested in a couple of months time. Depending on that result I will either keep the carbs the same or lower.

Now, my husband thinks this is another of my eating fads and I am taking it to extreme. He said all I do is go on about how things are high in carbs and full of sugar. I keep hoping that he will listen and take notice as he needs to lose weight too,

My question is once my levels are at 'normal' how much do I still have to continue cutting the carbs? Will eating to my meter tell me what i can eat and reflect in my Hba1C? I am quite happy to continue as I am I just need to convince my husband.

Sorry if this makes no sense - I just want to know what my situation as a pre diabetic is and tell my husband what I need to do and to stop winging at me!

Hi,

I think that given time you will be able to relax a bit and your husband will not think that you have an "obsession". You are educating yourself and onlookers usually see it as an obsession. I am sure if roles were reversed he would be making sure that he was eating the right things.
No matter how far you are in your journey eating to your meter applies. You will not need to test as often once you become confident but you will still need to know your levels if you are ill, have been exercising or not and when you try new foods.
