Hello there,

Could you please help me with my carbs, today I had 2 small oranges for b/fast
2eggs scambled with 1 small rasher of bacon grilled for lunch
tonight I have had a chicken thigh oven cooked . 3 very baby new pots,+ 1 portion of cauliflower
+ small pc of broc.
I am now going to have one crackerbread +1 tspn of cambazola cheese.(had a weak moment in tesco and it was reduced) :(
thank you all for your help.I am really enjoying the Diabetes forum.
Roll on Monday let's see if we can get this tester(fingers crossed )My OH is coming with me for support.

Carole,

I'm pretty new at it so someone might be along to correct but:

2 Small Oranges (like satsuma/clementine) is about 10g
Bacon and Eggs is about 1g (if used milk for scrambled eggs and)
Chicken is nothing, cauliflower is about 2g and brocolli 1g (depending on portions obviously). Potatoes I reckon about 15g for 3 potatoes but if tiny maybe less.
The crackerbread I would check the pack as they vary a lot but the ones I have are 7g and cheese is normally nothing but I've not ever looked at cambazola.

So I reckon assuming no drinks that would influence it about 36g-40g carbs on that eating day.

Good luck on the testing when you start it. With carb control like that a touch of metformin you'll be smashing it in no time I'm sure!

Reckon the tallerpaul is about right! Well done, you'll soon be sorting the diabetes dragon out!

thank you both, My OH has ordered a carbo book off ebay for me so will get into carbs quickly when it arrives
carole :)

No problem. With carb counting you will soon be boring your friends as much as mine!

Thanks Grazer praise from a diabetic sheep is high praise indeed.

Hi Carole looks like you're doing really well. Cambozala is my favourite mmmmmm. It should be fine. Not necessarily a good match with Cambozala but simple Ritz crackers are the lowest carb ones I've found. 10 Ritz works out around 15g of carb so if you are doing low carb but not VLC (less than 50g / day) you can probably fit it in as a nice snack. Just don't take the box with you when you go and sit down! I did that for quite a while as a means of getting use to a far lower carb intake. Usually just do celery and cheese for a snack nowadays.

Morrisons do some multi-grain crackers - just wee square things, come in a Ritz type box - they're 12.3g per 10 crackers, but possibly slower to break down with the whole grains. Very nice with or without cheese or pate.
