Cartridge change

Just wondering how low everyone lets their insulin cartridge get before changing. Not one to waste any but I would say every 1 in 3 times my pump comes up with occlusion error when below 20 units left. Thinking of changing when on 30. I suppose it would depend how much you need each day also.

What pump do you use ? Mine's a Medtronic and often go down to 9-10 units left without an issue. Strange :crazy:

I too have got the same problem as yourself.. For the past 4 weeks, I have been getting the occlusion warning when the cartridges get down to just under 20u. At first I thought it was just a coincidence and that the occlusion happened because of faulty set or kink in tube but then thought it was happening too often and that something was wrong with the pump. I'm now wondering if the problem is down to the cartridges and not the pump..

I normally put 150u in the cartridge and that usually lasts me 6 days but as said, the occlusion warning coming when cartridge is down to between 20u and 15u, makes me then have to take the cartridge out and put in another one as by the time I have attached another tube to the old cartridge and done the prime, there's not much point in carrying on as there wont be hardly insulin in the cartridge anyway....

My OH suggested filling the cartridge up with just 100u to see what happened and that too got the occlusion but only when the cartridge got down to 5u so not sure what is going on.

Will be due to do cartridge change again on Thurs with any luck but have used another cartridge from another batch to see if the same thing happens with the occlusion warning....

Driving me more nuts than I already am :x :lol:
 
Using the accu chek combo one. Didn't think of a cartridge problem! I usually put in about 200 units each time.
