Did anyone see casualty last night it featured dka which I was pleased about I suffered bad with dka back in November resulting in coma for 9 days, if the paramedic had checked me over the night before I sipped in to a coma then I wouldn't of been so ill, ( I also had brain infection, blood infection, pnemiou, brain swelling and septic,) I don't think there is enough awAre ness of dka and it shud be told to everyone and some people don't realise how diabetes can get , ( bs were over 50 even though I was taking the correct insulin) it's scary to think I wasn't nearly here

Hello, no I'm sorry I didn't see Casualty, I have never watched watch it!!! not my cup of tea.

What a horrible thing to have happened to you, you must of been frightened and scared, what an awful experience. Your family must of been frantic with worry and so concerned about you too.

I am so pleased that you managed to pull through and to share your experience here, on the forum.

Am I right that you are Type 1? People can have the misconception that all you have to do is have an injection and eat and that's it :? We all know that's only a tiny percentage of really how diabetes affects our daily lives, year in and year out.

I hope things have greatly improved for you now.

Take care, with best wishes RRB

Hi yes I'm type 1 I was diagnosed when I was 23 been on insulin from the start, it was horrible to wake up in itu not knowing wot had happened, even worst for my children who are aged 13, 7,2 the two youngest ones didn't understand y they couldn't see mummy, my husband wa my rock coining up everyday for them 9 days sitting with me for 8 hrs a day wishing me to get better, lucky I had a great friend who with her husband helped with the children everyday,
My family were no support as they didn't care, which none of them cared before hand when I was first diagnosed my mum had said to me that I only want diabetes coz someone else had it, but they say wot goes around comes around she was diagnosed last yr with type 2 so I just laughed in her face, just as she had done to me

Would you say the symptoms of DKA were represented accurately? More often than not, TV shows tend to represent a lot of diabetes-related stuff in a weird way.
