Here is a question which I am hoping someone can answer. I rarely drink alcohol and if I do it is wine in a 100ml glass and immediately after a substantial meal. However I THINK it lowers my blood glucose. Certainly it doesn't seem to raise it. So I thought to myself that a very good compromise would be Buck's Fizz - alcohol lowering BS, orange juice (light) raising it - equal 100 ml quantities of each. I have just invested a full 1,65€ on a bottle of Cava (! - I live in Spain) only to read that being sparkling it is more likely to raise my BS! I realise this is very individual but I really don't want to make a mistake here - if sparkling Cava Brut is likely to raise my BS but alcohol per se lowers it - shouldn't one glass leave me kind of equal?

Isn't Cava quite sweet, the only way of knowing is trying it and testing your bg levels afterwards. Enjoy

Haha - okay then, I guess it is a question of trial and error and hopefully I can't go too wrong with one glass. I just thought I had been rather clever with my Buck's Fizz idea!! It's brut so hopefully not too sweet. I shan't even like it if it is!

I'm going to guess that the combination of the two will raise your bg levels but will be interested in your results, I'm a red wine drinker (Merlot) and this has a minimal effect on my bg levels, will be enjoying a glass or two tonight

I'll let you know, and if it doesn't work next weekend's experiment will be the red stuff!!
