Hi,

My son has been Diabetic over a year now and is on MDI (with good numbers) however, he is getting very bored of the constant injecting and would like to try a patch pump.

Since the Omnipop isn't available in our area (of the UK) the Cellnovo product looks very exciting (assuming we can qualify for a pump).

Does anyone have any opinion on it (good or bad)?

It seems the cost will be no more than the other widely available NHS pumps so will hopefully be available soon.

Also, are there any other patch pumps anywhere apart from these two?

Thanks for any opinion.

Hi

I have seen and held the Cellnovo and hope that it does get to be a reality. Its very tiny so could be kept on the body virtually anywhere and has a lovely touchscreen remote.

Hello type1dad .

A friend of mine has one of these .
Loves it as it is totally tube 'free' she feels liberated [tangle free]
after years of being attached to the tubing with her old pump .

She wears hers on the top of her bottom/thigh .
She is a real wriggler in her sleep and it has never come off yet :o
[think said she changes it every 3-4 days ]
Simply loads up the insulin into it and its pre adhesive, sticks it onto her skin .

Her remote to this - is just like a mobile phone in a girly bright pink case .
It tells her everything too - when its time to test blood sugars and deliver the right amounts of insulin
Has a beep reminder pre-set into it plus all other sorts of excellent features too .

Wonders of new advanced technology eh :P

All I do know is she see's a consultant in Manchester [MRI] so
they must be available already 'possibly' in certain places of the UK .

Hope this can help .

Anna .

Thank you Anna29.

It looks like an amazing pump.

I hope the NHS adopt it as a viable option as the price is being offered as no more than the usual NHS pumps.
