CGM on the NHS

I have had 19 episodes of severe hypoglycaemia since September 2016 and they have all required and ambulance. Obviously I have had a huge amount of intervention from my diabetes team and then only thing they can now think of is a cgm. As I am unemployed due to these episodes, this will have to be nhs funded, and they have warned me this can take its time. I am 23 weeks pregnant on top of everything else. Has anyone got a cgm on the NHS and could tell me what the process is like please?

I got a cgm while pregnant and it came relatively fast. I also got a pump which came faster. It took 4 weeks to get a pump and 16 weeks for cgm.

Providing you can carb count and adjust insulin dosage correctly i would strongly suggest you consider changing insulin. It sounds to me like you're not getting hypo warnings because if you were you wouldn't require assistance. Certain insulins have worse records of this than others. I have stuck with porcine insulin because i get warning symptoms on it. It might be old fashioned and have slower action but I consider that a reasonable price to pay for hypo symptoms after nearly 34 years. I have 4 children btw and used porcine insulin through all my pregnancies.

Hospitals don't advocate it but porcine insulin works for many who lose warning symptoms on newer insulins. Iddt are very informative on all the different insulins and campaign to keep them available. Good luck and post in the pregnancy forum too. There are lots of helpful people there like @azure
