Ok I asked my consultant last time at the hospital about the CGM asked asked if the NHS funded them .
I was told they don't and only give them to people for short period of time to monitor there leves.
They don't recommend them as the they can cause infection and are very expensive. So has any body been told different I am in Glasgow

I was told today by my dsn that they have got funding for 2 people that suffer severe regular hypos

She highly recommended I got one, but I would have to self fund

How much these 'cost' to self fund .

Starter kit is 975

4 sensors are 255

And the transmitter which lasts 9-12 months is about 375

depends what your using to begin with, if your on an animas pump thats the cheapest option with a dexcom CGM. the pump is the reciever so takes out the Starter kit. then
transmitters are 350 a year
sensors (x4) 186
or a bundle is 500 wich is 4 sensors and a transmitter.

Transmitters are known to last between 12 and 18 months with a 12 month warranty. sensors recommended a week but i generally get 14-18 days per sensor.

its AA and yeah they do - its about a month. Ive gotta say animas are spot on as far as i have found the 3 times ive called them ive had help i needed.

They supply everything i need including if needed sharps boxes.

Ok so don't think I will be getting one of them just a bit expansive will wait for the cost to come down like all electrical goods when they are new. They are more expensive

Cheers.....thanks for that

My partners mum has the animas pump and had been given the CGM for 1 week as there was a fault with her pump. She asked if she could get it under the NHS but was told it would cost 5000 per year, seems a little different to the costs quoted here. Can anyone help with this?

A pack of 4 sensors from animas cost £186 the transmitter costs £335. If you buy a start up kit then you can have both together for £500. Transmitter is guaranteed for 6 months but can last 14 months and more.
If you buy the stand alone CGM then it's costs more I do not have the prices for this.

How long do the sensors last for and do you any contact details for somewhere that could supply this?

How long is a piece of string? My sensors have lasted up to 49 days.
Not sure exactly what you are asking to be supplied but if it's the whole kit of receiver, transmitter and sensors you are talking about £1,200 not sure of exact price and the kit is supplied by Advanced Therapeutics. If you have the Animas pump then pricing is different and supplied by Animas obviously as already said in previous post.

Ok thanks, just a bit confused as the hospital have given her a price of £5000 per year and she has the animas pump.
