Chacot foot

Hi All, back in April 2017 i had my diabetic check up, although i thought i had sprained my ankle i was told i had charcot foot, i then visited the trauma clinic and was told it wasn't, they said i had broken the navicular bone, difficult to fix so i wore a aircast boot until Aug 2017 when the consultant said that an operation was needed, October 2017 i had the operation and was told the swelling would come down after 5-6 months, it didn't and i was told that the fracture was not healing and was introduced to the Exogen ultrasound system to help, its now Oct 2018 and my last appointment the doctor confirmed that i do have a second bout of charcot foot, the foot hasn't healed and a further operation will be needed as the more bones in the foot have become weak. has anyone else experience this trauma and has anyone got any advice as i'm now starting to lose the will, i'm T1 and also have issues with my autonomic nervous system which probably does not help the healing, but its been 2 years since i first broke my foot......

Homer, I don't have any wisdom or personal knowledge to offer you, but I wanted to boost your thread up the lists fo viewing as others come and go from the forum.

Good luck with it all.

Has this doctor at the clinic given you any extra help with getting blood sugars under control? Do you have a freestyle libre, or even a pump?

I haven't had any experience with charcot foot either, but hopefully someone else might be able to help.

All the information does say that keeping blood sugars down will stabilise things, and I wondered how much help you'd been given with that.
