soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I was having coffee in Waitrose yesteday and on my way to the "ladies", I saw a brand new baby in a pram, beside her mother's chair. Of course I stopped to look and admire. Her name is Evie.
I complimented the Mummy on the beauty of her baby and she told me that Evie is a miracle beby, who almost didn't happen because Mummy is diabetic. that led to a longer conversation. Mummy has a pump. She was not at all happy with the diabetes care at the clinic.( the same one where T1 husband is "cared"for).
I gave Mummy a piece of paper with useful references on it.

Totally agree Totsy, I'm quite sure that Mummy will be very glad she met you Hana, and remember you for your kindness.
It's so sad that diabetes 'care' had sunk so low in this country that a new mother with diabetes should consider her baby to be a miracle. She should be very proud of herself for taking care of her own condition, and having a healthy baby in spite of the lousy care she recieved.
I was diagnosed type-1 nearly 21 years ago, and was given so much info and sensible advice which I am so grateful for. I would love the mention the name of the hospital in South West London, but not sure I'm allowed to on this forum. I had a 'diabetes liaison sister" visit me at home nearly every day when I was first diagnosed. Don't know if they exist these days. It was drummed into me, by my diabetes team, about self-managment,self monitoring, and the individuality of each diabetic paitent, regarding lifestyle and treatment. How things seem to have changed and considering developements in Bg testing, perhaps not in medication though, it's a real tragedy.
Here's hoping that things change for the better in the near future:)
