Change from NPH to Lantus insulin

I am type 1 diabetic who was previously on two nph insulins of 16 units each in the morning and before supper.

I changed to lantus insulin two days ago (Friday) and I am taking 26 units at bed time. On Friday, my bed time glucose level was 16.8mmol/l.I did not take any correctional doses and I woke up with a fasting gluose levels of 8.8. My before lunch glucose level yesterday was 10.8, my before supper was 4.6 and my bed time glucose level was 9.8 mmol/l. I took my 26 units @ bedtime and today I woke up this morning with fasting glucose of 2.3mmol.

I am just wondering if my lantus dose may be a little bit high as I have noted that my bed time glucose drops by 8 mmol and 7.5 mmol during the night.I am cautious decreasing the lantus dose because my day time readings are abit high. I also want to get your views whether I should wait and observe my glucose levels for 3 days before making changes to insulin dose.

Thanks in advance for your advises

I take lantus, but everyones resistance is different, but i'll say it anyway, you are giving yourself alot of insulin, I only inject 12-14 units every midnight (my awkward sleeping pattern), i'm not advising you take the same amount of insulin as I am, as I said the insulin resistance varies on the individual.
