Change in taste of water

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask you about a strange change in my taste of water about 2 months ago.
It now tastes normal. I am not sure if the cause was internal to me, such as an antibiotic, or a flu shot,
or maybe ketoacidosis from rather high blood sugars at morning/brunch. Or possibly, the change may have
been due to our pipes have gone frozen, at which time we asked our workman to flare them warmer.
The change to normal was gradual, but I tested it in the first two weeks by buying an external bottle from the pharmacy and asking my husband if he tasted a change.
It's rather mysterious. But I am happy that it tastes ok now, even though the high numbers in the Dawn era possibly.

Hello, What kind of taste was it? If it was a kind of metallic taste then that could be to do with a few things, 1) Dehydration and dry mouth, 2) Medication that you might be on, like antibiotics such as Tetracycline, Clarithromycin, and Metronidazole. (which you did say). 3) Gingivitis and other Dental Issues, 4) Sinus problems and lastly an excess or a deficiency of one type of nutrient or another.

When I was taking Metformin and a statin suddenly coffee started to taste really strange, very bitter, and then other things began to taste really odd - but I became very confused at around that time and stopped taking the tablets. Now, a few weeks later, everything is back to normal. I am glad you asked about this - my memory is so bad now that I had forgotten that happened.

I can't read what you said, except for the water taste thing. When I am high I LOVE the fridge water and HATE the water cooler at work.

Thank you for your detailed reply No1Deadly Poison. In the beginning it was a taste of somewhat glycerine (I am sory to describe it exactly). But it was not like iron or metal which is related to kidney failure I think. As the weeks went by, the water tasted flat, as if it had no salt taste. And now it is normal. I am very happy about that because I have to drink a lot of water. Chances are that it was an antibiotic for a tooth abscess and then went away. But it is also possible that our pipes were frozen and then thawed. Thank you for your information.

Thanks for your reply Resurgam. I do take a large dose of metformin, but have done so for about 9 years now. I suppose there may have been an interaction between it and an antibiotic. But I don't reallly know. It is normal now and I am so happy because water is my favourite beverage.
