I have been taking Metformin for 2 weeks now only 1 tablet daily due to elevated liver enzymes (unknown cause) and today GP has stopped Metformin and started me on Semaglutide as my liver enzymes have got worse in the last 2 weeks. Has anybody else had this with Metformin? I seem to read the opposite and that Metformin doesn’t harm the liver. I am confused and worried as waiting for a CT scan to see what’s happening with my liver
Not I. Was on Metformin for 11years and was a pretty heavy drinker all my life.. My Serum Alkaline Phosphatase was slightly raised June 2021, but I had a lot to drink the week before bloods.
Doctor said it isn't a problem as the liver heals. I cut down on drinking and it healed come next blood test.
I'm not sure about Metformin and the liver. Changing from Metformin to a Glutide seems unusual but I guess you may have some excess weight which could explain it?
