Change to quick release Metformin?

I started metformin about 5 weeks ago. I am grateful it fixed my chronic constipation. I switched from a mainly plant based whole food diet ( with some meat etc, I was flexible) to a diet low in carbs . I seem to handle about 15 to 20 max carbs a meal. I’d like to eat more carbohydrates like lentils , chickpea etc. at the moment I have cut out things like that almost. I just have less than half a cup. I’d also like to eat a whole apple, a red one. Would quick release Metformin help? I get a big spike one hour after a meal if I am not careful. I’ve kept everything low now for the last week, under 7.9. Fasting blood glucose was 6.4 mostly now just under six last couple of days. I eat avocados, nuts, salmon, cheese but am losing weight. It’s time to stop losing weight but my energies are even. I think I need more carbs and wonder if I should ask for quick release .

I didn't know there was such a thing !.I am on slow release and a fairly small amount of insulin my numbers are up and down ,I think its normal to spike about 1 to 2 hours after eating .I force myself to eat meat at least once a week because of anaemia and low b12.If my fasting bloods were 6 would be happy .:)
