Sorry to ask again but only diagnosed 7 weeks ago started on metformin had a reaction so went on sr, yes another side effect so now told to try diet only for a month to see if helps. At a loss now cause unsure what I am allowed to eat let alone Watch sugars and cards. Could someone please tell me roughly how many carbs a day and can't get my head round eating full yoga etc not the low fat one. It does not help sights differ on information. Plus side I had lost 9 pounds in weight x

There are loads of useful hints and recipes here in the forums.
I actually started on the Atkins diet before I discovered this site. If you want to low carb then there is lots of information and even a carb counter on their free site. I tend to avoid their bars and shakes, they seem very sweet, but they are handy if you're in a rush. http://uk.atkins.com/ this is the carb calculator http://uk.atkins.com/support-tools/carb-calculator.html
I try to stay below 50 carbs a day but will drop to below 20 if I'm really going for weight loss. We all vary in our carb tolerance so experiment and see what works for you.. and really do not be afraid of the high fat products, If you look at the labels on the low fat ones you'll see they have loads more sugar in them !
This is a great thread on the forum here about low carb success stories http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/low-carb-success-stories.3763/

The best and clearest comment I have ever heard about fats and carbs was "ask a farmer, how do you fatten an animal, the answer is high carb grains even with pigs and chickens who will happily eat meat and fats". Dietary fats in reasonable amounts are not the enemy.
