Strong smells, poor customer services, long queues, rubbish food, being fobbed off.
Any tips would be appreciated;
I am a genetic T2 diabetic ( 5 years approx )
I'm slim 5"6", 52Kg. Age 55. Reasonably fit . Low carb diet, quite strict - though I am guilty of a few slices of bread and some potato.

Medicines - this is my daily routine :
Insulin Abasaglar KwikPen - 20 units in am daily and 1 x 10mg Dapagliflozin - in the morning and evening I take a modified release Metformin 1000 mg x 1 ( X 2 in total daily )

I was prescribed Dapagliflozin about a year ago and I have to wash daily "down there" to prevent a thrush build up. Foreskin ever since starting this medication become incredibly tight and it can often can be painful.
It is effective in reducing my glucose levels but it has this thrush / tightness of the penis which I hate. So my doctor is now suggesting I try;

Empagliflozin 25mg - x 1 daily . ( a different SGLT-2 inhibitor drug )

Questions :

1) Have any of you done anything similar and switch these meds as I am about to ( for possibly similar reasons as I ) and ....?

2) Isn't 25mg daily too strong ? , should it not be 10mg ? I wonder if my doctor has made an error here ?.
I can check with my doctor of course but wonder what the general opinion is of other Empagliflozin users ?

Thank you,

Shoran.

Diabetes runs in my family . I was told I am T2 on account of this. I am apparently not a T1.....

I was never over weight and I was found to be diabetic about 5 years ago - it was a bit of a shock.

Father, Uncle are both T2, brother ( shortly diagnosed after I was ) is a T1.
All of us slim and relatively fit generally and ate quite sensibly etc .

Isn't a MODY someone who develops diabetes at a young age ? as in 30 plus ?
